The leadership of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL) has reviewed a communication posted on the Executive Mansion’s official Facebook platform concerning the removal of our former Vice Chair for Economic Affairs, Comrade Prince Saah Bonnah, over accusations of corruption.
As a political movement established on the core principles of integrity, accountability, and transparent democratic governance, the EFFL treats any claim of misconduct with utmost seriousness. In alignment with the President’s comprehensive campaign against corruption, the Party’s leadership convened on Saturday, January 31, 2026, and agreed to support the President’s action by suspending Comrade Bonnah’s membership in the Party while investigations are ongoing.
Consistent with our Internal Revolutionary Discipline Policy, the EFFL has immediately set up a special investigative panel to thoroughly review the allegations. This process will be coordinated by the Party’s Financial Intelligence Unit and Security Department, supported by independent external financial auditors.
This step demonstrates the Party’s unwavering commitment to combating corruption and reassures the Liberian people of our dedication to openness, responsibility, and ethical leadership. A preliminary report from the investigation will be released within twenty (20) days of its commencement. These measures are intended to reinforce trust in the Party’s internal systems and highlight our broader commitment to democratic accountability across all institutions.
While we stand firmly behind the President’s anti-corruption drive and his administration’s efforts to promote a responsible and effective Liberia—values that are fully aligned with our internal policies—the EFFL will not tolerate actions that are politically motivated or designed to undermine the Party. If our intelligence bodies and auditors conclude, based on existing Board resolutions and committee findings, that the dismissal of our former Vice Chair was driven by political considerations rather than merit, such conduct will be treated as a deliberate provocation and will be met with appropriate political responses. Any Board members implicated will be held responsible, as we will not accept unjustified attacks on a Party that significantly contributed to the formation of this government.
We recognize that the President acted within his authority and in accordance with the Board’s recommendation, as any responsible leader would, in order to protect institutional reforms and uphold constitutional governance.
Moreover, if due process confirms that the former Vice Chair is guilty of the alleged wrongdoing, the EFFL will fully endorse any additional actions taken by the Government.
The campaign against corruption must proceed impartially and without conditions if Liberia is to overcome this longstanding national threat.
The Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia will continue to cooperate with and support the President, his administration, and the Unity Party Alliance unless the National People’s Assembly (NPA) formally indicates that our participation is no longer desired or that our contributions are no longer valued. Should such circumstances arise, the Party will determine its next course of action. Until then, we reaffirm our commitment to the Alliance and the President.
At the same time, we will maintain principled objections to any decisions or behaviors within the administration that undermine the welfare of the Unity Party Alliance or contradict the values that brought us to power.
Individuals who deliberately misguide the President for personal benefit will be addressed accordingly by the EFFL.
